About the Role
Objectives:
- Support children with blindness to be school-ready through academic and rehabilitation activities defined by the organization.
- Manage a team of mentors and ensure they conduct regular sessions with children.
- Ensure assimilation of children with blindness in local government-run schools and provide necessary support to children and teachers.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching Braille, Orientation and Mobility, Daily Living Skills, Cane training to the children and the mentors
- Training the mentors directly in contact with the children.
- Supervising the mentors of the program.
- Coordinate with the compliance team and provide necessary data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Regular visits to the project site to interact with the mentors, parents, and the children of the program
- Coordinate day-to-day activities and prepare necessary field reports.
- Assimilate children with blindness to nearby schools and provide arms-length support with academic activities.
- Organize training for school teachers, counsel parents, and organize community awareness activities.
Requirements
Degree in education or B.Ed [Special Education - Visual Impairment] with Skills in Braille language.
Minimum 3 years of experience working in education, social development, or disability sector.
Ready to work in the field and remote village areas.
Fluency in Telugu, Hindi, and English is required.
Experience executing communication plans such as press releases, blogs, and articles to promote campaign successes and generate brand awareness and leads.
Experience working with children/adults with disabilities is a plus.
