Dr. MNG Mani

Dr. M.N.G. Mani is a globally recognized educator, disability rights advocate, and one of the foremost leaders in the field of education for persons with visual impairments. He is best known for his 21-year tenure as the first Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer of the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI), where he led global efforts to expand educational opportunities for children with visual impairments and strengthen inclusive education systems across the world.


Prior to his work with ICEVI, Dr. Mani served for 15 years as Principal of the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education in Coimbatore, India's first autonomous College of Education. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Coimbatore.

A passionate advocate for inclusive education, Dr. Mani has consistently championed approaches that enable children with disabilities to learn alongside their peers in mainstream schools. He has also played a significant role in advancing accessible mathematics education for children with visual impairments through international collaborations and innovative teaching methodologies.


An accomplished author, educator, and trainer, Dr. Mani has contributed extensively to the field of special education through academic publications, teacher training programs, policy advocacy, and leadership development initiatives. His lifelong commitment to educational equity and disability inclusion has influenced educators, institutions, and policymakers across the globe.
